Hoarder Cleanup by Clutter Level
The Institute for Challenging Disorganization rates hoarding on a five-level scale, and the level is what a crew prices against. The International OCD Foundation uses a separate picture scale and advises getting help once a room looks like its picture 4 or higher.

Light Clutter (Levels 1 and 2)
Doorways and stairs are still clear, but trash is overflowing, dishes pile up and one exit may be blocked. This is close to an ordinary cleanout. A hauler sorts with the owner, bags trash and loads furniture. Most of the cost is labor time, not truck space.
Rooms Lost to Clutter (Level 3)
At least one room can't be used for its purpose, and clutter has spread outside onto the porch or yard. Expect several truckloads. The crew works one room at a time, often starting with the kitchen or a bathroom so the house can function again.
Unsafe Homes (Levels 4 and 5)
Stairways and halls are blocked, appliances or plumbing have stopped working, and there may be mold, rotting food or animal waste. A junk crew can't safely start here alone. Bring in a biohazard remediation company for waste and mold, then the hauler for the volume.

Hoarded Garages, Sheds and Yards
Outdoor hoards hold heavier junk: scrap metal, tires, old mowers, lumber. Some of it carries a fee or follows its own rules. See tire disposal before you count tires as ordinary trash.

Why Clarksville homeowners call Clarksville Junk Haulers
- Your request goes to one local hauler, not a call list
- Ask for the all-in price before anything is loaded
- Free to call; you pay only the hauler, for the job you agree to
- Tell us about stairs, heavy items or a deadline up front
Before a Hoarder Cleanup Starts
One decision-maker
Pick one person, ideally the owner, who can say keep or toss. A crew waiting on a group text loses an hour.A short search list
Give the crew five or six things to watch for, such as a wallet, a title, a ring or a box of letters. That works better than "save anything important."Honest photos
Send photos of every room, including the worst one. A quote based on the living room alone will change on the day.Help beyond the haul
The American Psychiatric Association treats hoarding as a mental health disorder. An empty house isn't treatment, so line up a counselor or support group alongside the cleanup.
See estate cleanouts if the hoarded house is being cleared after a death.
