Yard Waste Removal in Clarksville, TN

  • Typical cost: $150 to $200 per pickup-truck load of brush in national cost guides, and $150 to $350 for a hauler's average load of yard waste
  • Labor: $50 to $80 an hour where a hauler bills by time
  • Free city pickup: two windows a year for city residents, for limbs under 8 feet long and 18 inches across
  • Self-haul: the first 500 pounds of wood waste a day is covered by the county user fee, then $46 a ton

Clarksville Junk Haulers sends your photos and address to a local hauler for brush, limbs, bagged leaves and pulled shrubs when the city pickup is out of season or the pile is too big for it. Price follows volume: brush is light, but it fills a truck fast, so the size of the pile matters more than its weight.

Brush Piles and Cut Limbs

Most calls are for a pile that grew over a weekend of trimming: crape myrtle cuttings, privet hacked back from the fence line, limbs from an overgrown maple. HomeGuide prices brush hauling by pickup-truck load, about $150 to $200 for one load, $300 to $400 for two and $450 to $600 for three. Branches with forks and side shoots take up far more room than their weight suggests. Cutting them to a few feet and stacking them the same direction lets more fit in each load, and that brings the price down.

Fallen Limbs and Storm Debris

After high wind, the job is usually limbs on the lawn plus whatever they hit: gutter pieces, a crushed planter, a fence panel. A hauler loads cut wood and debris by volume. HomeGuide puts fallen tree removal at $100 to $600 per tree, hauling included. Limbs still attached to the trunk, or a trunk lying across the roof, need a tree crew with saws and rigging before any hauler can help.

Leaf Bags and Grass Clippings

Bagged leaves are light and quick to load. They are worth adding to a brush job rather than booking on their own. Paper yard bags hold up in the truck better than plastic ones, which split when wet.

Shrubs, Stumps and Old Landscaping

Pulled boxwoods, sod strips, old landscape timbers and dead shrubs with root balls are heavier per load than brush because of the soil. Ask whether the hauler will dig them out or only load what you have already pulled. Stumps are a separate job: HomeGuide lists stump removal at $80 to $250 per stump, and a hauler who doesn't grind will only take a stump that is already out of the ground.

Yard Waste Pickup Rules in Clarksville

The City of Clarksville Street Department collects normal yard waste free for addresses inside city limits, but only during two cleanups a year. In 2026 the spring window ran March 23 to May 1, and the fall window runs October 5 to October 31. You call the Street Department at (931) 645-7464 during the window to get on the list. To qualify:

  • Bags and boxes

Leaves, grass and small limbs go in biodegradable paper bags or cardboard boxes.
  • Limb size

Larger limbs must be cut to 8 feet or shorter and be less than 18 inches in diameter.
  • Placement

Within 10 feet of the road, but not in the street, in a drainage ditch or blocking the view of traffic.
  • What's excluded

Tree stumps, limbs from topped trees and anything cut by a commercial tree service.

That last rule catches a lot of people. If you paid a tree company to take down or top a tree and they left the wood behind, the city won't collect it, and a hauler is the usual answer. The city pickup also takes only yard waste, not furniture, mattresses or appliances.

Yard Waste Self-Haul vs. Paying a Hauler

If you have a truck or trailer, Bi-County Solid Waste takes wood waste (branches, leaves and other plant matter) at its Dover Road landfill. The household user fee covers the first 500 pounds per day, and anything above that is $46 a ton, so a homeowner's brush load rarely costs much at the gate. The real cost is the labor: loading a trailer with thorny brush, tying it down and making two or three trips. Set that against a hauler billing $50 to $80 an hour for labor, or a flat price per load, and decide what your Saturday is worth. For a small pile inside city limits during a spring or fall cleanup, the curb and a phone call to the city cost nothing.
