Mattress Removal by Size and Type

Queen, King and California King Mattresses
The big sizes are what most people can't move alone. A king folds and flops on the stairs and needs two people at least. National cost guides put removal at about:
| Mattress size | Typical removal price |
|---|---|
| Queen | $60 to $100 |
| King | $80 to $125 |
| California king | $100 to $140 |
Most of the cost difference is the extra labor and the larger disposal charge that comes with a bigger mattress.
Twin and Full Mattresses
Kids' beds, bunk beds and guest rooms are usually twins and fulls, and they're the cheapest to remove: about $40 to $55 for a twin or twin XL and $40 to $70 for a full. A bunk bed adds a second mattress and a frame that has to come apart, so count both mattresses when you ask for a price.
Memory Foam and Hybrid Mattresses
Dense memory foam is heavier than an innerspring of the same size, and the weight pushes up both labor and landfill charges. One national guide prices memory foam removal at about $120 against roughly $90 for a spring mattress. Hybrids sit somewhere in between. A foam mattress that came rolled in a box won't go back in it, so expect a full-size carry.
Box Springs, Bed Frames and Headboards
The box spring is its own piece at the landfill, with its own $10 fee. Metal bed frames unbolt into rails and legs, and the steel can go to scrap. Wooden headboards and footboards ride with the rest of the furniture; see furniture removal if the dresser and nightstands are going too.
Mattresses With Bed Bugs
An infested mattress is still a normal pickup, but haulers price in the extra care, commonly $40 to $100 on top. Charities turn them down. The EPA's do-it-yourself advice is to make a discarded mattress unappealing, for example by marking it "Bed Bugs," and to have it picked up as soon as possible. Tell the hauler up front.

Why Clarksville homeowners call Clarksville Junk Haulers
- Your request goes to one local hauler, not a call list
- Ask for the all-in price before anything is loaded
- Free to call; you pay only the hauler, for the job you agree to
- Tell us about stairs, heavy items or a deadline up front
Mattress Disposal in Montgomery County
Bi-County Solid Waste charges $10 per mattress and $10 per box spring, and accepts them at its main landfill, 3212 Dover Road, and nowhere else. The county's convenience centers won't accept them. Payment for that fee is cash or check only. The main landfill is open Monday to Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. That per-piece charge is part of why a hauler's mattress price runs above a bag of trash.
Donation isn't a route here: the big charity stores refuse mattresses and box springs (see furniture donation pickup for what they do take). Recycling is limited too. Tennessee isn't one of the four states (California, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Oregon) with a state mattress recycling program, so there's no free drop-off network. The nearest recycler on the county's list is Spring Back Recycling in Nashville, which charges by size.

A third-floor walk-up or a tight landing changes the quote, so say so when you book.
